Let Us Introduce You: Chinese Zodiac

The Chinese zodiac signs and their characteristics of our team members – know your colleagues!

Dragon – Nannette Ripmeesterdragon
I’m a Dragon … and according to the Chinese Zodiac, that means I like to lead the troops, I’m known to initiate new projects, possess a good deal of energy, have charisma, like to be the centre of attention, and yes, I’ve got a big ego. I’m not extremely flexible, and patience isn’t my middle name either. But apart from all that noise and sizzling energy, Dragons are considered to be very lucky in love! Well … what else could you wish for!

Rabbit – Selene Siregarrabbit
Based on the Chinese astrology, I am a Rabbit and fire is my element. A few positive characteristics of the fire Rabbit includes gentle and quiet, elegant and alert, kind and patient, and particularly full of responsibility. I’d like to say I indeed possess all of the above… who doesn’t want all the positive stuff! 😉 On the other hand, Rabbits are said to have a tendency to escape reality… which could explain one of my hobbies: day-dreaming. Rabbits seem to be quite reluctant to reveal their mind to others and are sometimes too cautious and conservative, which mean good opportunities are easily missed. In 2015, I will try to be more open to new ideas and seize opportunities the universe is giving me!

Horse – Veronika Norvaisaitehorse
I never thought I’d say this but here it comes: Hi, I’m a Metal Horse! Apparently ‘horses’ are characterised as adventurous, extroverted and humorous. Judging from how much my friends get annoyed by my continuous invites, pokes and suggestions, and how often I end up doing things with strangers as a result, I guess I fit the profile. As for humour, why yes, I enjoy laughing with and at others (maybe that’s why they don’t do stuff with me…). Specifically metal horses are said to do well in careers related to journalism, communications and media. So yay! On the downside, commitment to anything is a bit of an issue to horses. I have to admit that quite a few of my personal projects never see the daylight, and as for relationships, well, if you’re single and you know it, hug your cat! (Though I learnt a new useful phrase from my Chinese zodiac description: “The Metal horse prefers to take a more untamed approach to life”).

Monkey – Marianne Kuijpersmonkey
Being born in September 1992 makes me a monkey according to the Chinese astrology; a water monkey to be precise. A few of the positive character traits of monkeys are lively, likable, adaptable, versatile, and talkative. It’s hard to say whether I possess these traits, but I’d like to think that I am likable, and I believe I am quite adaptable when I find myself in new and unfamiliar situations. However, I am not the most talkative person, and I also can’t really find myself in the description of being lively. Of course, the water monkey possesses some negative characteristics as well. A few examples are selfish, lazy, and easily distracted. Again, I agree with some of the characteristics, such as laziness and being easily distracted. However, I don’t think I would qualify as a selfish person, but then again it is difficult to judge yourself that way.

Sheep – Amy Leesheep
According to my year of birth, 1991, my Chinese Zodiac is sheep. More specifically, it is a metal sheep. As a ‘metal sheep’ person, I am a kind person with a good heart. I am a responsible person and I like to work in a very organized way, such as making to-do lists before I actually start working. In this sense, I think I fit those characteristics quite well since I really prefer everything to be in order from the very beginning on a daily basis. However, my zodiac also says that sometimes I may become too stubborn and I need more flexibility. I am kind of surprised to read that since I always thought of myself as a flexible person, but after all, it is hard for me to judge myself without bias.
