Bummer – ‘we’ lost the WC2014 semi-finals

The morning after … I just couldn’t be bothered yesterday evening to go and talk to Nora, the office rabbit, after the Dutch team lost the semi-finals to the Argentineans. I have to admit I’ve been contemplating rabbit stew … but when I went this morning to her cage, she stood up on her hind legs and looked at me expectantly. So, we sat down together and over a carrot analyzed the match. That conversation was very helpful. Nora made me realize we should count our blessings. The Dutch team has played an excellent World Cup tournament. Nobody at first believed they would survive the first selection round and they’ve made it to the semi-finals. So we should thank the Dutch players for their effort and even though it wasn’t always the most beautiful football, it certainly was very effective.
Yesterday, the Argentinean team wasn’t really stronger, we just failed to score. Nora reminded me of her choice yesterday morning and indeed I just failed to see it. She hopped to the Argentinean flagged carrot first – how could I have misinterpreted it?! The end result will not change; the Dutch team has lost to the Argentineans – soccer leads to unanticipated results and yes … rabbit body language isn’t easy to read. Maybe I’m less of a rabbit-whisperer than I hoped for? I’ll have another carrot and think of a plan for this Saturday evening.
