EURO 2016 final: Nora, our office-rabbit predicts the winner
Wow, what football can do to humans and rabbits? It’s amazing! I had no idea a rabbit could be so sensitive to what’s happening in the outside world, but our office rabbit Nora was definitely not enjoying herself these past weeks. She’s never really grumpy, but she was a bit nah-nah these past weeks. But after the semi-finals, she took an interest in veggies again! I think in the end her football heart just won it from the disappointment that her favourite team (the Dutch) are not part of this European Championship.
So what does Nora think about the outcome of the UEFA EURO final for Sunday?
We had a little chat with her about the match between the individualistic, cosmopolitan, sophisticated French with their inborn feeling for fashion, appearance, and style versus the eloquent, warm and friendly Portuguese, for whom hierarchy and with that, a strong leader come naturally. According to Nora, the French are going to win – she went for the French flag without any hesitation.
Nora’s football predictions have been pretty good in the past, so most likely we’ll see the French win on Sunday. It will be a battle between two great football nations. Where the French tend to behave in an individualistic manner and are hard to impress, the Portuguese work as a group towards a shared goal and are rather flexible in how they reach that goal and willing to change their strategy on the go. Personally, I would have loved Ronaldo, ehh the Portuguese, to win, my only comfort here comes from the fact that centuries of international trade made the Portuguese not just flexible, devious and realistic but also damn good in accepting defeat.
Nora and the ELM team are looking forward to an exciting end of the EURO2016, a championship that was full of surprises, with some common contenders (the Dutch) not being part and some unexpected teams (the Icelandic) playing the quarter-finals. Enjoy the match!
